These bath bombs are made with the basic baking soda and citric acid that when combined together gives the fizzing and spinning action when added to the bath water. The colloidal (ground) oatmeal is soothing for the skin. The cornstarch in a bath bomb has just one job: It slows down the reaction. By binding to the baking soda as well as the citric acid, the cornstarch slows down the rate at which both of them dissolve. The effect is that the fizziness may last 3 or 4 minutes, instead of only seconds. Adding a small amount of cream of tartar helps to harden the bath bombs. The Turkey Red Castor Oil is a solubilizer and will self-emulsify in water, and will help disperse other oils in water as well to prevent a film on top of the water.
Drop one bath bomb into your bath water and enjoy the colour and scent from the essential oils or fragrance oils.
